What is #EdChat?

EdChat is a chat created by educators for educators that takes place on Twitter using the hashtag #EdChat.  You can find out more about what exactly it is by watching the video below, and by visiting here. #Edchat takes place on Twitter Tuesdays from 11am-12pm and again from 6pm-7pm.

I am just starting out using EdChat, and so I had to figure out how to do it, and how to do it in the most productive and effective way.  I am still learning, but I thought I would put together this document for those like me who want …

A Hypothetical Situation...

Lets say you are taking a class.  You feel like you understand pretty much what is going on in class.  You do a little homework here and there and feel like you have a grasp on the material.  You go into the midterm exam…leave feeling a little overwhelmed, but feeling like you probably got a C.  You get your mark back…and you bombed it…like nuclear bombed it.  You got a 19.2%.

Twitter in the classroom

I recently got a Google Wave invite from a friend, and while playing around with it, came across some waves people had made that talk about using technology (like Google Wave) in the classroom.  In this thread was a youtube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WPVWDkF7U8) posted by someone that talked about a teacher using twitter to further class disucussion in a university class setting in the states.  Here is the video:
